While it is true that the Prophet ﷺ said that the Evil Eye is a reality, it is essential for Muslims to understand that nothing in this world, even from the Unseen, can harm us unless the All-Powerful Lord of the Universe so wills.

Magic and envy are often interconnected, which is why they are mentioned together in the final Sura of the Holy Qur'an. Allah has taught us about their nature and origin. Furthermore, Allah has instructed us, through His last and greatest Emissary , to seek refuge in Him from the evil of blowers upon knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies' - and to put our trust in Him.

Shaykh Muhammad Mitwalli Al-Sha rawi (1911-1998), rahimah Allah, was among the best-known Muslim scholars of the late 20th century. Besides working at Al-Azhar in Cairo, he also spent several years teaching in Saudi Arabia and in Algeria. In Egypt he served for a time as Minister of Religious Endowments (Awgaf). Shaykh Al-Sha'rawi became famous through his books and especially his television broadcasts, through which from the 1970s onwards he taught and inspired vast numbers of viewers with his unique didactic style and personality as well as his eudition, Dar Al-Taqwa has had the honour of presenting many of Shaykh Al-Sha'rawi's writings to the English-speaking world.
